Music for a Sunday Afternoon

An Inspiring Program of Classical Guitar Solo & Piano-Guitar Duo

Artists

Jay Kacherski – Guitar

Lina Morita – piano

You are in for an extraordinary treat of beautiful music for classical guitar and piano.

Jay Kacherski will play selections from his new CD Synthesis: 20th and 21st Century Music from Mexico. This album is representative of his work in Mexico City as a Fulbright Scholar, researching and promoting new music for guitar by Mexican composers.

With Lina Morita, they will play piano-guitar duos from their upcoming CD, Landscapes. One of these, Étoiles Par Grand Vent by Olga Amelkina-Vera, is based on the book Wind, Sand and Stars by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It interprets his plane crash in the Sahara and 10-day survival before being found, delusional, by nomads.

The concert will also include composers Tamez, Diego, Ritter, Merlin, Villa-Lobos, Colonna/Bigazzi, Mitchell. Come, enjoy, relax and let these beautiful notes take you to far-away places.

NOTE: Masks required by venue.

Concert proceeds support scholarships & activities of The Houston Classical Guitar Festival & Competition
