Spanish Romance – A Tour of Spanish Guitar

June 28, 2026 — GCGA is pleased to co-sponsor “Spanish Romance – A Tour of Spanish Guitar“, featuring Andrew Blanch (guitar) and Maria Eugenia Nieva (voice).

With more than 20,000 tickets sold to date, acclaimed Australian guitarist Andrew Blanch and Argentine mezzo-soprano Maria Eugenia Nieva return to the United States for the fourth tour of their highly acclaimed concert series, Spanish Romance.

The evening begins with a dazzling solo guitar recital that traces the rich history of the Spanish guitar, from the masterpieces of the European Baroque by J.S. Bach to the evocative works of Spanish masters Fernando Sor, Francisco Tárrega, and Manuel de Falla. The musical journey continues into Latin America with celebrated 20th-century works by Astor Piazzolla (Argentina) and Antonio Lauro (Venezuela).

The concert’s uplifting finale transports audiences to the heart of Latin America as Maria Eugenia Nieva, praised by The Age for her “rich, dark chocolate” voice and described by Limelight Magazine as “thoroughly entertaining,” joins Andrew on stage. Together, they perform beloved songs celebrating love in all its forms from Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico, including Manhã de Carnaval, Gracias a la Vida, El día que me quieras, Alma Llanera, and Piel Canela.

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Andrew Blanch has been hailed as “the rockstar of nylon-acoustic music” (On Sounds), “the real deal” (Classics Today), “dazzling” (ArtsHub), and “especially brilliant” (The Age). One of Australia’s leading classical guitarists, Blanch has won prizes in more than ten international competitions, released multiple critically acclaimed albums with over 1.5 million streams worldwide, earned a nomination for Best Classical Album at the AIR Awards, and performed at major festivals and concert halls throughout Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific.

Join us for an unforgettable evening August 27, 2026, celebrating the passion, beauty, and rich musical traditions of Spain and Latin America.
